About CADAC
CADAC is a joint effort of arts funders across the country and is dedicated to the collection, dissemination, and analysis of financial and statistical information about Canadian arts organizations in a system of record. CADAC provides a simplified process, standardized forms and a web-based application to arts organizations applying for operating (core) grants to submit financial and statistical information for use by funding agencies.
The new CADAC system was developed in 2022 by the Canada Council for the Arts, in collaboration with the CADAC members, as its strong commitment to foster sectoral collaboration and sharing of knowledge within the arts sector, and to promote the value of the public investment in the arts.
CADAC Vision
CADAC’s vision is to provide reliable data for the benefit of the arts in Canada. For reasons of accountability, transparency and sound decision-making, accurate data is crucial for public funding agencies and to the sector overall. By working together to improve the quality and availability of data on the arts in Canada, CADAC is contributing to an environment in which both funding agencies and arts organizations are better positioned to do their work.
CADAC Mission
CADAC’s mission is to collect and make available consistent, credible financial and statistical data on publicly funded arts organizations in Canada. CADAC creates efficiencies and opportunities for arts funders and arts organizations by:
- Providing common financial and statistical forms.
- Improving accountability and transparency for both funders and applicants by reviewing and validating financial data.
- Providing reliable data for assessment processes, research, policy and program development, performance measurement and evaluation.
- Providing data that helps demonstrate the value and reach of public funding of the arts.
Benefits for Funding Agencies
Public sector funding agencies have immediate access to current and consistent data for all the arts organizations they fund. Aggregate data across CADAC is also accessible, allowing for reliable and consistent financial and statistical analysis of the Canadian arts sector. Individually and collectively, funding agencies will be able to report on the health of their organizations and the impact of the arts in their communities.

Benefits for Arts Organizations
Canadian arts organizations applying to one or multiple funding agencies for operating (core) grants submit their financial and statistical information in a single format, to a single platform. They also have access to their own historical data and to reports on their own organization and comparative reports to all similar organizations in the database.

Should I Use CADAC?
If you are applying for operating (core) grants with one of the CADAC participating agencies (funder), you will need to speak with the Program Officer / Advisor / Consultant dedicated to the funder’s grant program, to determine if you need to use CADAC. If it is a requirement from that funder’s operating (core) program to use CADAC, you will need to go through a registration process through the CADAC website.

This page offers public access to aggregated data sourced from all arts organizations that have recorded their financial and statistical data in CADAC. The data recorded in CADAC since 2013 can be retrieved from Explore our Data.
The quantitative datasets are available for public use, allowing you to create your own reports.

The following Canadian public agencies, together with the Canada Council for the Arts, provide funds for artistic activities at the federal, provincial, territorial, municipal and regional levels.

Response time during business hours
Our response time is currently averaging between 3 to 5 business days, depending on the nature of your inquiry. The deployment of the new CADAC system in December is causing a higher than usual number of requests for support, which may require more than 5 business days to respond to.
Before reaching out for support, please take the time to review the self-help support material and training videos available under Training for Organizations. These may provide a quick answer to your questions.
Urgent requests for support on registration and grant deadlines will be treated as a priority within the standard 2-3 business days.
When contacting us for support, please clearly mention the following information to help reduce the delay:
- The nature of your inquiry or request.
- Information concerning your grant deadline, if you have one.
- Your full name, phone number and email where you can be reached.
We appreciate your patience as we work towards a return to our regular service level.

Public Holidays
Our offices are closed on statutory holidays. Please consult the following list for more details.
Offices will close from December 22 at 5:00 p.m. (EST) and reopen on January 5 at 8:45 a.m. (EST).
Support will be provided for critical issues relating to the new system during the holidays. If you require support, click on the Contact us button to send us a message. Please note that there will be no support during weekends and statutory holidays.
For questions relating to reconciliation or training, a member of the team will get back to you once we return to the office on January 5.
